We conducted a study of play system most used in soccer. We think that it is better to adapt play system to the qualities of our football players.
Origins and development of soccer formations.
The 1-3-4-1-2 formation has the same characteristics as the 1-3-4-3, except for the striking force. Players are positioned differently in that area of the pitch, with one withdrawn striker and two centre-forwards.
This formation can be considered the most attacking formation, but also the most risky formation in defensive play because there are only 3 defenders and there are more empty spaces to defend.
The 1-3-5-2 formation is mainly an attacking formation, with three quick and self-assured defenders, five midfielders who can join the attack at any time and two classic centre-forwards who constantly lose their markers and crisscross each other.
The starting line-up is made up of a goalkeeper, four defenders, two midfielders ahead of the defence, two wingers (one on the left wing, one on the right wing), one withdrawn striker in the middle and a centre-forward.
The 1-4-3-3 formation is a very attacking formation. Teams can play very spectacular football using this formation if they have the right players, like born wingers and centre-forwards.
The 1-4-4-2 formation is one of the most common formations in modern football. The current development of football goes along with a formation which seeks a perfect balance between defence and attack.
This formation was created as a consequence of most teams using two strikers up front: two of the centre-backs mark the two opposing strikers man-to-man, and a third centre-back who has no particular opponent to mark is in charge of covering for them and for the full-backs.
